21 year old William Fernandez appeared in General Sessions Court Tuesday on one count of criminal homicide. Judge Bill Locke set his bond at 750,000 dollars. Should Fernandez make bail, he cannot have weapons and must wear a GPS device. His next appearance is August 9th.
Fernandez was arrested the early morning hours of July 4 for shooting 25 year old Devin Grove at his residence on Mauzy St. Fernandez was staying with Grove and he asked him to pack up and leave. Grove was carrying a tote and was told to put it down. Fernandez pulled a gun and shot Grove in the back that struck his C-7 vertebrae. He was shot two more times, striking his collar bone and bicep. Grove remains in the hospital paralyzed from the neck down. Fernandez called 911 and waited outside the residence and was arrested without incident.
